We know there are some undeniable standouts from our stores that guests love to enjoy: The Cookie, our fresh poke bar, and the juicy prime rib sandwich, to name a few. In honor of Washington Wine Month, we asked some of our favorite local winemakers for their expert recommendations on wines to pair with our signature Best of Met bites.

The Cookie with Sparkman Cellars Holler Cabernet Sauvignon and The Peanut Butter Cookie with Wonderland Grenache
Loaded with nearly half its weight in decadent Belgian-style chocolate and studded with toasted walnuts, The Cookie is crisp at the edges, soft and gooey in the center, and finished with a sprinkle of sea salt. Baked all day and served warm, this legendary treat is melty, indulgent, and impossible to resist. Fans of peanut butter will love our nutty version bursting with fresh peanuts for salty-sweet perfection.
Why this pairing works: “The Cookie with our Holler Cabernet Sauvignon is the perfect pairing, and The Peanut Butter Cookie with the Wonderland Grenache is like magic. I think I’m right!” -Chris Sparkman from Sparkman Cellars
Poke Bowl with DeLille Cellars Chaleur Blanc
Fresh hand-cut tuna, salmon, or shrimp paired with vibrant toppings make our poke bar a delicious escape. Build your perfect bowl over sushi rice, add crisp veggies, or spice it up. Bursting with island-inspired flavor, it’s a customizable meal or snack with endless possibilities.
Why this pairing works: “The richness of our Chaleur Blanc goes perfectly with the fattiness of the salmon in the poke bowl.” -Nick Bernstein and Mari Rossi from DeLille Cellars

Prime Rib Sandwich with Gorman Winery Bad Penny Grenache
Thinly sliced, perfectly pink prime rib is piled high on a freshly baked baguette that’s golden on the outside and tender inside, then finished with creamy Dijon-horseradish sauce. Served with savory au jus for dipping, this flame-roasted sandwich delivers melt-in-your-mouth beef in every satisfying bite.
Why this pairing works: “The grenache has got bright, fresh acidity that cuts through the richness of this amazing sandwich.” -Chris Gorman from Gorman Winery

Crab Cakes with Mark Ryan Viognier
Made in-house with our signature recipe, these crab cakes are loaded with sweet, buttery Dungeness crab—so flavorful they outshine most restaurant versions. Lightly dressed, delicately seasoned, and ready to pan-fry at home, they crisp up beautifully for an irresistible taste of the Pacific Northwest.
Why this pairing works: “Our viognier has a wonderful acid structure, which helps cut through the richness of the crab cake and makes the whole experience more balanced.” -Mark McNeilly from Mark Ryan Winery

Rotisserie Chicken with Two Vintners Syrah
Inspired by rotisserie chickens found in neighborhood markets in France, our chickens are seasoned to perfection, cooked slowly over an open flame, and served hot and fresh throughout the day. It’s the stuff family dinners are made of. Our free-range chickens are raised without the use of added hormones, fed a vegetarian diet, and live in a cage-free environment.
Why this pairing works: “We’re leaning into the savory aspects of the syrah that pair perfectly with rotisserie chicken.” -Morgan Lee from Two Vintners

Fried Chicken with Januik Sauvignon Blanc
The aroma alone of Metropolitan Market fried chicken is irresistible. Each piece is hand-breaded and fried to crispy, golden goodness, locking in the juiciest, most tender morsels of meat beneath its crackling crust—it delivers the perfect balance of crunch and succulence in every bite. Served hot and fresh throughout the day, our fried chicken is comfort food at its finest.
Why this pairing works: “The acid and crispness of the sauvignon blanc counteract that beautiful fattiness of the fried chicken. It’s the perfect yin and yang.” -Mike & Andrew Januik from Januik Wine and Novelty Hill
