At Metropolitan Market, we believe in the power of neighbors helping neighbors. Every week, we donate fresh, nourishing food to our community partners—organizations that are making an incredible difference for thousands of children and adults across the Puget Sound. Through our November Community Care Drive, your donations at checkout directly support these efforts, helping provide food, housing assistance, and essential services to families in need.

emergency food network (EFN)
Since 1982, Emergency Food Network has powered Pierce County’s crisis food system, supplying over 75 food pantries and hot meal sites. Acting as the county’s sole nonprofit food distributor, EFN sources food from farms, corporations, and the USDA to keep shelves stocked. Their home delivery program, launched during the pandemic, now supplies families with enough food for 12 meals each week. Through initiatives like the student Break Bag Program and Repack Project, EFN makes certain that every volunteer hour and donation stretches to feed as many people as possible.

friends of the needy
What began in the early 1980s as one meal a week for a single Seattle shelter has grown into a movement serving 15 shelters and food banks across the region. Every Tuesday night, Friend of the Needy volunteers deliver four-course meals to shelters, and each morning, they collect and redistribute food donations. For over 40 years, Friends of the Needy has been a mighty force feeding the hungry and uplifting those most in need.
