All-Purpose BBQ Rub

MAKES 2 CUPS
This is your basic, all-purpose rub. It's perfect for low-and-slow cooked pork, smoky chicken thighs, grilled cauliflower steaks, you name it! Keep it simple or customize by adding your favorite spices.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup smoked paprika
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/4 cup kosher salt
  • 3 tablespoons garlic granules
  • 3 tablespoons onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients together in a large bowl. Whisk until evenly combined, being sure to break up any clumps. Store in an airtight container up to 3 months.

Cook Tips

Use about 1/4 cup rub per pound of meat. For best results, massage rub all over meat a day ahead of cooking and then refrigerate until cooking time. This will give the salt and sugar time to permeate the protein, resulting in a juicier end product.
