Best Berry Crisp

Ingredients
FILLING
- 6 cups blueberries, raspberries or blackberries, or a mix
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
TOPPING
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted and cooled)
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Optional Ingredients
- Sweetened whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
Directions
- Adjust oven rack to middle position. Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter a 2-quart baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, combine berries, flour, sugar, and cinnamon. Stir to blend well. Spoon into buttered baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, stir together oats, flour, sugars, and salt. Stir in melted butter and nuts, mixing well. Sprinkle over berry filling.
- Place baking dish on a sheet pan to catch drips. Bake 30 to 40 minutes or until filling is bubbling and topping is golden and crisp.
- Serve warm or cool with ice cream or whipped cream.
- Cook's Note:
- When fresh berries aren't in season, substitute with 2 pounds frozen berries and increase all-purpose flour in filling to 1/2 cup.
