Blackened Spice Rub
MAKES 1 CUP
This rub creates a beautiful crust for fried fish, grilled chicken, and seared steak. Use it as a base for smoked meats or add to other sauces and marinades for a flavor boost. We like to combine it with hot sauce and butter for a twist on traditional Buffalo wing sauce.
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons dried thyme
- 3 tablespoons dried oregano
- 3 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 2 tablespoons white pepper
- 2 tablespoons black pepper
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon garlic granules
- 1 tablespoon Aleppo pepper
- 2 tablespoons kosher salt
Directions
- Place all ingredients together in a large bowl. Whisk until evenly combined, being sure to break up any clumps. Store in an airtight container up to 3 months.
Cook Tips
Substitute hot smoked pimentón for smoked paprika to give this rub a fiery kick!
