Classic Shakshuka (North African Egg Dish)
Serves 6
Ingredients
- 1 jar (24 ounce) shakshuka sauce
- 6 large eggs
- Kosher salt (to taste)
- Pepper (to taste)
Optional Ingredients
- Crumbled feta cheese
- Chopped fresh parsley leaves
Directions
- Place a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add sauce and bring to simmer. Adjust heat to keep just below a simmer.
- With the back of a large spoon, make six indents in sauce, evenly spaced, for eggs. Crack an egg into each indent. Sprinkle eggs with salt and pepper.
- Cover skillet and cook 5 to 10 minutes until eggs are cooked to preference.
- Serve with your favorite toppings and warm flatbread.
