Classic Shakshuka (North African Egg Dish)

Serves 6

Ingredients

  • 1 jar (24 ounce) shakshuka sauce
  • 6 large eggs
  • Kosher salt (to taste)
  • Pepper (to taste)

Optional Ingredients

  • Crumbled feta cheese
  • Chopped fresh parsley leaves

Directions

  1. Place a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add sauce and bring to simmer. Adjust heat to keep just below a simmer.
  2. With the back of a large spoon, make six indents in sauce, evenly spaced, for eggs. Crack an egg into each indent. Sprinkle eggs with salt and pepper.
  3. Cover skillet and cook 5 to 10 minutes until eggs are cooked to preference.
  4. Serve with your favorite toppings and warm flatbread.
