Savory Roasted Kale Topping
MAKES 6 CUPS
If you're familiar with the dried seaweed seasoning, furikake, this is a similar addicting accompaniment to just about everything! Sprinkle it on rice, salads, soups, and popcorn or keep the pieces larger just for snacking as is.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
- 1 tablespoon untoasted sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic granules
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- Freshly cracked black pepper (to taste)
- 2 bunches curly kale (stems removed and torn into 2-inch pieces )
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
Directions
- Preheat oven to 325°F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, combine nutritional yeast, sesame seeds, onion powder, garlic granules, salt, and pepper. Mix to combine and set aside.
- Make sure kale is very dry before beginning. Place kale in large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil. Massage oil into kale until evenly coated.
- Sprinkle seasoning mix over kale pieces. Toss to combine.
- Arrange in a single layer on prepared sheet pan. Roast about 30 minutes until completely dry and crisp, stirring once or twice to ensure even cooking.
- Drizzle with sesame oil and toss. May be crumbled further or left as is. Store in an airtight container.
