If you’re anything like me—someone who makes autumn their entire personality—spooky season doesn’t feel complete without a trip to the pumpkin patch. I’m no Jack-O’-Lantern carving pro, but I adore soaking in the whimsical fall vibes with a steaming mug of apple cider in hand. And, of course, I’m always on a very important mission: finding the perfect pumpkin for my front porch to greet trick-or-treaters on Halloween.
Washington is full of fantastic farms for a wholesome day of hayrides, caramel apples, and harvest festival activities. Here are seven of our favorite pumpkin patches around the Seattle-Tacoma area for a wickedly gourd time.
Metropolitan Market Pumpkin Patch
Every October, our stores’ exteriors get a fall-ified makeover! Stroll through our pumpkin patches adorned with hay bales and dried corn stalks for Insta-worthy photo opportunities. We offer several pumpkin varieties in all shapes and sizes, from autumn oranges to ghoulish greens and multicolored curiosities. When you’re done playing in the patch, warm up inside with a Pumpkin Spice Latte from our café or treat yourself to a seasonal Pumpkin Bakewell Tart.
Jubilee Farm - Carnation
Eastside dwellers, you’re in for a real treat! Jubilee Farm is a fully operating organic farm that transforms into a magical pumpkin playground during the harvest season. Take a ride on a horse-drawn carriage, let the little ones run through the hay maze, and make your own cider with their hand-cranked apple press. Stop by Artisan Row to meet local beekeepers, sculptors, and creators selling handcrafted treasures. The best part? Admission and parking are completely free!
Gordon Skagit Farms - Mount Vernon
For a pumpkin patch experience that feels more like a dazzling, immersive art museum, this is the place to go. Gordon Skagit Farms is quite literally magazine-worthy—their hand-painted displays and fashion-forward scarecrows skirted with pumpkins were featured in Martha Stewart Living! Every October, my friends and I make a girls’ trip to the farm, and I’m always inspired by the fabulous fall creativity. Gordon Skagit grows over 150 rare heirloom varieties of squash and pumpkins in blush pinks, golden yellows, and ghostly grays, all curated for culinary, carving, or specialty use. Don’t miss their dried flower wreath shed—one of their handmade creations decorates my living room year-round!
Swans Trail Farms - Snohomish
Swans Trail Farms is home to a gargantuan 50-acre pumpkin patch and a u-pick apple orchard. Foodies, get ready to have a field day—their fresh-baked apple cider donuts are life-changing, and their apple cider is exquisite. Visitors 21+ can enjoy hard cider crafted with apples plucked straight from the orchard. Explore a Washington State-shaped corn maze, browse the country store filled with local farm goods, or catch a lively duck race or pig show. Their picturesque pumpkin garden is just begging to become your family holiday card backdrop.
Spooner Farms - Puyallup
Spooner Farms is one of our amazing local produce growers, and they also host a free, family-friendly harvest festival each fall. They grow 50 pumpkin varieties alongside corn, squash, and gourds. Say hi to the farm animals, munch on a caramel apple, and see who can launch a pumpkin the farthest with their epic slingshot.
Knutson Farms - Sumner
Knutson Farms goes all out for fall. In addition to their pumpkin patch, they offer a petting zoo, barn games, play pits, and corn and hay mazes. Every Saturday night in October, they’re putting on a fantastic fireworks show—dare we call it the Disneyland of pumpkin patches! Plan to come on a clear day to enjoy the jaw-dropping view of Mt. Rainier while the kids revel in endless autumn entertainment.
